How to Install a TORRAS Screen Protector: OrigArmor & SunView AR

Installing a glass screen protector is one of those small jobs where I want to slow down and get it right. A speck of dust or a crooked edge would annoy me every time I picked up my phone. In these two videos, I install TORRAS screen protectors on my iPhone 17 Pro Max: first OrigArmor, then the newer SunView AR.

I liked the first protector enough to keep using it for a long time. When it was time for a replacement, I tried SunView AR. Both installations lined up well in my demonstrations, but the trays and finishing steps are different. Here is how I used each kit.

After finding my first TORRAS installation video, TORRAS reached out and sent me the SunView AR screen protector featured in the second video.

Quick answer: Use the kit made for your exact phone, clean and dry the screen, remove dust with the included sticker, then follow the markings on that kit’s installation tray. My OrigArmor kit uses a cover, pull, and slide process; my SunView AR kit uses a marked tray, pull tab, and squeegee.

Before you start: match the kit and clean the screen

Both kits shown here are for the iPhone 17 Pro Max (6.9-inch). Check the model on your packaging rather than relying on a similar product name. These are walkthroughs of the kits I used, not instructions for every TORRAS protector or every iPhone.

Lay out the supplied cleaning wipes, microfiber cloth, dust-removal stickers, tray, and instructions. In my videos, the cleaning supplies are numbered. Use your kit’s instructions as the guide, especially if the packaging or applicator differs from mine.

  1. Remove the case if it gets in the way. I take my TORRAS case off in the SunView AR video so the phone can sit correctly in the tray. If you are replacing an old protector, remove it before installing the new one.
  2. Clean with the supplied wet wipe. Be thorough across the screen, including the edges.
  3. Dry with the microfiber cloth. Check for moisture and smudges before moving on.
  4. Lift remaining dust with the dust absorber. Look across the screen in reflected light. In the newer video, I stop to check it again because I can already see something on the surface.
  5. Avoid touching the cleaned screen. Keep your fingers on the phone’s edges as you place it in the applicator.

Video 1: how I install TORRAS OrigArmor

My original OrigArmor installation on an iPhone 17 Pro Max.

The installation section begins at about 0:55. My kit has a rounded-edge glass protector and an applicator that holds the phone in position.

  1. Open the applicator and check its orientation. I use the left/right markings and the clips shown in the video.
  2. Seat and secure the phone. The clips hold it in the correct location before I close the cover.
  3. Close the cover and pull the tab. Follow the direction marked on your applicator.
  4. Move the slider as instructed. In my demonstration, I slide it across and then back before opening the cover.
  5. Open the applicator and remove the remaining film. Check the alignment and finished surface before putting the phone back into everyday use.

I did not get bubbles in this installation, and the protector lined up well. The rounded edge was one of my favorite details: it felt smooth under my finger, without an abrupt edge. The glass also looked very clear to me. That is my result from this installation, rather than a guarantee that every application will be dust-free.

Video 2: how I install TORRAS SunView AR

My newer SunView AR installation, followed by an outdoor viewing check.

The top-down preparation starts around 1:32; seating the phone in the tray starts around 2:40. This kit includes two protectors and a squeegee. One protector is already installed when I show the remaining supplies.

  1. Finish cleaning and inspect the screen. I take my time here, checking reflections for dust or smudges.
  2. Find the clearly marked top of the tray. Place the phone in the correct orientation and slide it into position without touching the cleaned screen.
  3. Pull the tab using the kit’s marked direction. Follow the supplied instructions for this applicator rather than copying the OrigArmor slider steps.
  4. Use the included squeegee as directed. My demonstration shows this finishing step before I check the application.
  5. Check the alignment and put the case back on. I make sure everything looks right before taking the phone outside.

What I liked after using both protectors

The original protector lasted me a long time, and I often found it hard to tell that it was there. In the newer video, I show scratches and worn spots on the old protector, which is why I am replacing it. I use my iPhone 17 Pro Max for my videos, apart from filming the phone itself, so this is something I handle every day.

The smooth, rounded OrigArmor edge stood out to me. My replacement anti-glare glass does not have that same seamless-edge feel, so I would not describe the two as identical. I liked both, but for slightly different reasons.

With SunView AR, I was especially happy with the anti-glare effect. My outdoor check begins around 3:34. The sun is behind me, and I show how the screen looks in that setting. Direct sunlight on the screen is still a tougher situation. This is a practical viewing demonstration, not a measured reflectivity test or a drop test.

If your installation does not look right

Before pulling the installation tab, check that the phone is seated fully and facing the marked direction. If you spot dust during preparation, pause and use the supplied cleaning tools. Good alignment cannot compensate for a dirty screen.

If a bubble or trapped speck remains after installation, follow the troubleshooting instructions for your exact kit. I would not keep lifting and repositioning the glass without checking those instructions first. My videos show successful applications; they do not demonstrate every possible repair.

My takeaway

The step I would not rush is cleaning. Both TORRAS kits helped me line up the protector, but I still followed the instructions and checked the screen carefully. Pick the video that matches your kit, take your time with the numbered cleaning steps, and check the finished fit before putting your case back on.
